Australian Road Safety Foundation Campaigner Nick Bell says the number of people being killed on Australian roads is “out of control.”

The national road toll has reached a seven-year high with a staggering 1,253 deaths on Australian roads in 2023.

“This really is about people making the right choices… It starts and stops with us at the ignition key,” Mr Bell told Sky News.

“This is just out of control at the moment, what I’m seeing.”

“You don’t want to see what I have seen, you do not want to experience that, you don’t want to smell it, you don’t want to hear it.

“You do not want this to happen to one of your family members.”
